ILOVERUSS & It’s Worth It
Liza Shkirando & FlickerFuckers

The artworks ”It’s Worth It” and ”Spiritual Staples” explore the impacts of state ideology on individual lives, rights to our bodies and societal beliefs. Liza explores moral dilemmas through vulnerable, raw, painful and not safe visuals. ”It’s Worth It” delves into the resignation to futility as a defense mechanism, visualizing the Pavlovian conditioning that justifies violence and sacrifice for the supposed greater good. ”Spiritual Staples” critiques the state’s control over people’s bodies that are bound together through the use of unrestrained state violence and fear, justified as measures to safeguard the nation from ”immoral” liberal value. Warning: blood and perceived violence.
ILOVERUSS
After captivating over 20.000 visitors at Nikolaj Kunsthal in Copenhagen and Cecilia Hillström Gallery in Stockholm, the acclaimed video installation ILOVERUSS by Tova Mozard arrives at Hypnos Theatre in Malmö.
In this multi-screen installation, we follow Tova Mozard and the struggling actor Russ Kingston in Hollywood over a 20-year period.
Mozard is a curious and caring observer of Russ’ whims and acts, in this multi-layered storyline that unfolds over time. At the same time, it feels like we are witnessing one special condensed moment between the two friends, acted out in a confidential space with room for quirkiness, vulnerability and raw emotions.
In ILOVERUSS, Tova Mozard explores a search for a deeper meaning in life – in a society where self-forgetfulness and consumption dominate everyday life. It is also a blunt and honest portrait of two people’s shared love of cinema and their urge to understand themselves, explored through their interactions with each other in this shared self-portrait of sorts.
